Kenneth and Sarah Ramsey's Rollin With Nolan has been retired from racing after breaking down during the running of the Churchill Downs Handicap (gr. II) on the Kentucky Derby undercard Saturday, according to trainer Nick Zito.The 4-year-old colt was shipped to Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, where Dr. Larry Bramlage will perform surgery to repair a fractured sesamoid in his left front leg.Rollin With Nolan won five races during his career, including the $66,000 Eillo at Gulfstream Park in February. As a 3-year-old, the son of Summer Squall -- Pi Phi Hi D, by Sauce Boat, was sent on the Triple Crown trail after winning a Gulfstream Park allowance race. But he was sent to the sidelines after finishing third in the Turfway Park Spiral Stakes (gr. II) and fifth in the Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II). Rollin With Nolan found his greatest success in seven-furlong sprints, winning the Eillo, finishing third in the Gulfstream Park Breeder's Cup Handicap (gr. II), and beaten by a half-length when fifth in the $72,000 Perryville. All three are seven-furlong races or about seven furlongs. He also won a seven-furlong maiden race at Gulfstream while making his racing debut.Rollin With Nolan was bred by John T. L. Jones Jr. and Bud Boschert and earned $241,194.
