The next start for 7-year-old campaigner Silver Tree is yet to be determined, but trainer Bill Mott said he will consider sending the son of
Hennessyto Australia this fall to compete in the Oct. 27 Tattersalls Cox Plate (group I).
“It’s an early nomination and there’s quite a bit of quarantine on both sides,” Mott said. “I think it’s about two weeks on either side, so you’d be training in quarantine. But my owners are interested, and if he stays safe and sound, I would definitely think of it as an option.”
The Peter Vesgo homebred scored his 12th career win from 34 starts in the Aug. 5 Fourstardave Handicap (gr. IIT) at Saratoga Race Course, when he took the 1 1/16-mile turf race by three-quarters of a length.
Mott said there is still a possibility that the hearty campaigner will run an additional race in the U.S. before shipping to Australia.
