Led by the efforts of Eldon Farm Equine, the majority of horses previously sold at auction that passed through the sales ring during the Aug. 7 session of the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling sale realized significant gains.

Sixteen such horses were resold for higher prices during the auction’s second session in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. Collectively, the horses sold for a $2,896,000 profit, an average of $181,000 per horse.

Virginia-based Eldon Farm Equine, headed by Ken Luke of Atlanta, realized an aggregate $710,000 pinhook profit on a pair of horses sold through a Gainesway consignment.  A Dynaformer   filly went to Lazy F Ranch for $700,000, and a Tale of the Cat   filly sold for $600,000 to Zayat Stables. Eldon Farm Equine had paid $295,000 for each at a previous auction.

Three horses previously sold at auction realized a combined $280,000 loss, while one resold for the same price. Five other horses did not meet their reserve.—Ryan Conley
