Atoned, a $165,000 Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. 2-year-old sale purchase owned by Cot Campbell’s Dogwood Stable, became the first winner for sire Repent  when he won a maiden special weight test at Monmouth Park Aug. 3.

Atoned, out of the Icecapade mare Amidst, rallied from seventh position at the first call to win the one-mile event by a half-length in 1:40.39. The 2-year-old colt is trained by Todd Pletcher.

Also on Aug. 3, Our Sugar Bear Stable’s Big Al, another Repent offspring, finished third in a maiden special weight event at 1 1/16 miles on the turf at Saratoga.

Repent won four graded stakes in two seasons of racing, including the Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (gr. II) at 2 and the Illinois Derby (gr. III) at 3.  Repent stood the 2007 season at John Sykes’ Cloverleaf Farms II, which ceased operations July 1.  He will stand the 2008 season at Brent and Crystal Fernung’s Journeyman Stud in Ocala, Fla.
