From Monmouth Park

In separate incidents, two horses fell during the running of the second race at Monmouth Park Aug. 3. One jockey was injured, and a horse was euthanized.

Jockey Shannon Uske was thrown to the ground when her mount, Miss Moonmaid, clipped heels and fell on the backstretch. Uske was taken to Monmouth’s first aid center. Monmouth medical director Dr. Angelo Chinnici said the rider complained of back pains and was sent to Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch for precautionary X-rays.

Miss Moonmaid was not injured.

Jockey Mario Madrid was thrown from his mount when Spanish Music broke down on the far turn. Madrid was not hurt in the fall and rode the rest of his mounts. Spanish Music was euthanized.
