Poker Tourney to Benefit Lava Man Groom Garcia

A poker tournament will be held at the Del Mar Hilton Aug. 16 to benefit Noe Garcia, the groom for Lava Man who was seriously injured in an automobile collision July 23 near the racetrack. The action begins at 7:30 p.m.

Garcia lost his left arm in the crash.

Checks for $200 for the tournament go toward Garcia's recovery and rehabilitation, including training in use of a prosthetic arm. Checks are to be payable to Lavamanshero.

Horsemen and fans can sign up for the tournament or donate to the cause in the Del Mar racing office or the Web site www.lavamanshero.com.
