Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum's homebred Alshakr (by Bahri) defeated Croeso Cariad (Most Welcome) by 1 1/2 lengths in the Falmouth Stakes (Eng-II), Wednesday's featured event on the Newmarket, England card. Ridden by Richard Hills, the 3-year-old filly completed the mile over a good turf course in 1:39.7.
Trained by Ben Hanbury, Alshakr was third, beaten a neck, in the French One Thousand Guineas (Fr-I). The filly has now won two of five starts for her connections.
