TVG announced Monday, July 23, that it will air live racing and on-site programming during opening week of the 2007 Saratoga meet.  Opening week coverage will be highlighted by the debut of the new Breeders’ Cup Challenge series on Saturday, July 28, and the scheduled entry of Street Sense, winner of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) in the Jim Dandy Stakes on Sunday, July 29.

TVG will air daily coverage of all races through the duration of the 2007 Saratoga meet, concluding Monday, Sept. 3.

TVG’s daily start-to-finish race coverage of opening week at Saratoga, continuing through Sunday, July 29, will include special live editions of "Starting Gate and "Racing Coast to Coast", plus on-site commentary from TVG analysts Todd Schrupp, Gary Stevens, Simon Bray and Jill Byrne.

"Starting Gate" will air live from historic Saratoga Race Course at 1 p.m. (ET) Thursday through Sunday.  The show brings viewers live racing from TVG's East Coast tracks with up-to-the-minute analysis and handicapping angles. "Racing Coast to Coast", airing at 3 p.m. (E)T Wednesday and Thursday and 4 p.m. ET Friday, Saturday and Sunday, will also originate live from Saratoga. Hosts Gary Seibel, Bob Baedeker, Chris Kotulak, and Matt Carothers take TVG’s worldwide audience across the U.S. with coverage of the opening races on the West Coast along with the late races of the East Coast and Midwest, including the major stakes races of the day.

The new Breeders' Cup Challenge series will debut from Saratoga on Saturday, July 28, highlighted by the $750,000 Whitney Handicap (gr. I), a 1 1/8 mile race for three-year-olds and up and the $500,000 Diana Handicap (gr. I), a 1 1/8 mile turf race for fillies and mares, three-year-olds and up.  The Breeders’ Cup Challenge series continues through early October with similar formats at Del Mar, Belmont Park, Keeneland and Oak Tree at Santa Anita.  Each winner earns a spot in the two-day, $23 million Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Monmouth Park, October 26-27.

“Having TVG live on site at Saratoga is a tremendous asset,” said Charles Hayward, New York Racing Association president and CEO.

“Saratoga has the summer’s most sensational lineup of major Thoroughbred races, and we are proud to showcase this premier competition to our worldwide audience,” said Tony Allevato, TVG senior vice president and executive producer.  “Introducing viewers to the new Breeders’ Cup Challenge series reinforces our commitment to providing unparalleled coverage of world’s best horseracing.”
