Saratoga Revises Whitney Day Stakes Schedule

In order to accommodate ABC’s two-hour live coverage of the Breeders’ Cup Challenge at Saratoga Race Course on Whitney Handicap (gr. I) day July 28, the schedule of races has been changed, the track announced Friday.

The “Win and You’re In” format will apply to the day’s featured stakes races. The winners of the races listed below will automatically qualify for the Breeders’ Cup at Monmouth Park (N.J.) on Oct. 27.

ABC will begin its coverage at 4 p.m. Eastern.

Here is the revised schedule of stakes races for Saturday, July 28 at Saratoga Race Course:  
-- Race 7 (4:12): $250,000 Go for Wand Handicap (gr. I) for fillies and mares, 3 and up, at nine furlongs.
-- Race 8 (4:43): $250,000 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (gr. II) for 3-year-olds and up at six furlongs.
-- Race 9 (5:15): $500,000 Diana (gr. I) for fillies and mares, 3 and up, at nine furlongs, turf.
-- Race 10 (5:46): $750,000 Whitney for three-year-olds and up at nine furlongs.
