Starlight Stables is offering partnership opportunities "to a small number investors" in the horses it is purchasing this year at the yearling sales through Florida horseman Barry Berkelhammer, according to a press release issued Friday.
“We are following the same guidelines we have used in acquiring and racing such outstanding runners as two-time champion and Breeders’ Cup Distaff (gr. I) winner Ashado and multiple grade I winner Harlan’s Holiday,” said Jack Wolf, a Starlight principle, in a prepared statement. “We will welcome new partners who have the desire to win North America’s best races and have fun doing it.”
Starlight bought nine yearlings for $1,195,000 at the recent Fasig-Tipton Kentucky select yearling auction. They included a $250,000 Indian Charlie--Argentum filly and a $190,000 More Than Ready --Love Destiny colt. Starlight will acquire more prospects at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select and Keeneland September sales.
The yearlings will be sent to trainer Todd Pletcher and will be raced in the Starlight name.
In addition to Wolf, the principles in Starlight are his wife, Laurie, and Donald and Barbara Lucarelli.
