TVG to Televise Racing From Del Mar
Opening day coverage July 18 will include the $100,000 Oceanside Stakes, a one-mile turf race for 3-year-olds. Also on opening day, TVG's Racing Roundtable (10 p.m. ET / 7 p.m. PT) will originate trackside with a discussion focusing exclusively on Del Mar’s new $9-million Polytrack racecourse. Another of the special programs scheduled to run throughout the Del Mar meet is Fandicapping, a fun, interactive program airing every Saturday where fans run the show. Hosted by TVG analyst Ken Rudulph, each show will feature live guests plus viewers’ emails and phone calls initiating discussions on industry issues, historical debates, and general handicapping questions. Each Sunday during the meet, TVG's signature series Horseracing All-Access will air live from Del Mar. All-Access enables viewers to experience an insider’s perspective on racing by placing wireless microphones on jockeys, trainers, owners, and race officials, bringing the sounds and the behind-the-scenes excitement of horseracing to life. In addition, the network will make all cameras available to the Del Mar stewards, including an “isolation camera” that targets every move of a key horse in each race. “The combination of TVG’s exceptional technology, unique programming and live coverage brings tremendous value to the Del Mar racing season and to horseracing enthusiasts around the world,” said Joe Harper, Del Mar’s president and general manager. In addition to live trackside analysis, up-to-the-minute reports and special programming, TVG’s coverage of Del Mar will be highlighted by the following events on opening weekend: July 21 - grade II $300,000 San Diego Handicap, a 1-1/16 mile race for 3-year-olds and up. July 22 - grade I $400,000 Eddie Read Handicap, a 1-1/8 mile turf race for 3-year-olds and up. |
