Thirteen individuals have been elected to the Breeders’ Cup board of members and trustees, the organization announced June 27.

Ballots were mailed May 8 and had to be received by June 18. The election results were confirmed by the firm Moore, Stephens, Potter June 26 and are expected to be ratified by the current Breeders' Cup board of members and trustees at its July 13 meeting.

Twenty-five people sought the 13 available seats on the 48-member board. Under the voting structure, 13 seats are up each year on a three-year rotation. The other seven seats are for founding members.

The following were elected to three-year terms:

The board of members and trustees will vote for six new members to the Breeders’ Cup board of directors at the July 13 meeting. Current members of the board of directors are Beck, Robert N. Clay, William S. Farish Jr., Tracy Farmer, Finley, James E. Friess, Hubbard, B. Wayne Hughes, Humphrey, Manfuso, Ogden Mills Phipps, Satish K. Sanan, and J.V. Shields Jr.

Day-to-day activities of Breeders' Cup are overseen by the organization's president, Greg Avioli.
