Apprentice rider Stephanie Fedora recorded her first career victory in the first race on Queen’s Plate program Sunday at Woodbine.

The Mississauga native, aboard Albert Sanges’ Black Tea, fended off a late charge from Southern Kitten for the initial win.

It was the second lifetime triumph for the dark bay daughter of Orientate  , who paid $12.70, $6.30 and $3.40 across the board.

The final time for the six furlong race was 1:10.77.

Fedora is a graduate of Kemptville College, just south of Ottawa. She graduated in 2002 with a certificate in barn management before coming to Woodbine to work as an exercise rider for conditioner Jim Day.
