Dubai Millennium's death has opened the way for a huge insurance claim. According to the Racing Post, Dubai Millennium was insured through Lloyd's of London for a sum believed to be in the region of £30 million. "Although Dubai Millennium was insured by a syndicate at Lloyd's in London, it is likely that much of the £30 million has been reinsured in overseas markets," according to a market insider interviewed by the Post.

Bred by Sheikh Mohammed and campaigned by his Godolphin racing outfit, Dubai Millennium (Seeking the Gold -- Colorado Dancer, by Shareef Dancer) was a two-time English champion who began his stallion career this year at Dalham Hall Stud near Newmarket, England, for an advertised fee of £100,000. He had contracted equine grass sickness and was euthanized April 29 at a Newmarket clinic.
