Bengal Receiver Defeats Horse in Charity Race

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Johnson defeated Restore the Roar in a sixteenth of a mile match race Saturday at River Downs.

Johnson proved a convincing winner in :11.1 for the exhibition race, created to draw attention to the Oklahoma City-based relief organization "Feed the Children."

Sporting specially designed silks in the Bengals colors that were later auctioned off, Johnson jumped on an outrider's pony afterward and saluted the crowd.

"I told the media I was going to do something they have never seen to celebrate," Johnson said.

The 4-year-old Restore the Roar was ridden by Patty Cooksey, who had defeated former Bengal receiver Chris Collinsworth in a charity match race in 1993.
