Immediately following the June 16 Stephen Foster Handicap (gr. I) at Churchill Downs, the Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville will host a happy hour with such local "celebrity" bartenders as University of Louisville basketball coach Rick Pitino and Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winning jockey Calvin Borel.
The event is slated to start at approximately 6 p.m. and will support the Backside Learning Center and the Race for Education. Presented by the Equine Wellness Foundation to benefit horsemen’s education, special guests will serve their favorite drinks.
The evening will also include a silent auction with such items as a wine tasting for 20, halters of famous horses, and a Barbaro poster signed by jockey Edgar Prado.
Other celebrity bartenders expected at the event are as follows: John Asher, Churchill Downs vice president of communications; Hall of Fame trainer D. Wayne Lukas; current and former jockeys Donna Barton Brothers, Chris McCarron, and Rafael Bejarano; Terry Meiners, 84 WHAS personality; Ed Bowen, racing historian; Carl Nafgzer, 2007 Derby winning trainer; Bob Evans, CEO of Churchill Downs Inc.; Paul Hornung, Heisman Trophy winner; Steve Sexton, Churchill Downs president; and horse owner Richard Klein.
