Donna Trant, Secretary to Oaklawn Park Owner, Dies of Cancer

Services for Donna Trant, personal secretary to Oaklawn Park owner and president Charles Cella, will be held Tuesday, June 5, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Mrs. Trant, 52, died June 1 of cancer.

“I have never known a more talented individual,” Cella said. “(Mrs. Trant was) a tireless leader whose managerial and people skills set the character and standards for our complicated business.”

Mrs. Trant had been employed by Oaklawn for 30 years. In addition to her secretarial duties, she directed office management and systems and worked closely with general manager Eric Jackson on Oaklawn’s purse and construction funds.

Survivors include her husband, Buddy Trant; two step-children, Dee Thomas and Todd Trant, and mother Pat Logan. Additionally there are six brothers and three sisters-in-law, two sisters and one brother-in-law, and two step-grandchildren.

The two sisters, Jamie Radimer and Nancy Muncrief, are also longtime employees of Oaklawn Park.

Mrs. Trant will be buried in Calvary Cemetery in Hot Springs. Donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the American Cancer Society, or the Arkansas Chapter of the Race Track Chaplaincy of America.
