Trainer Steve Klesaris was being treated Friday night for injuries received in an automobile accident earlier in the day.

Klesaris was hit head-on near Delaware Park, Bill Castle, a close friend and agent for jockey Mario Pino, said.

Castle did not know the extent of the injuries but said Klesaris was at Christiana Hospital in Wilmington, Del., and was complaining of soreness in his neck and back. He also suffered some cuts in the accident.

Klesaris was to travel to Pimlico where on Saturday he was to saddle Diabolical in the Maryland Breeders’ Cup Handicap (gr. III). Klesaris owns Diabolical in partnership with Puglisi Stables.

Klesaris is having another excellent year, having saddled 36 winners from 126 starters, a strike rate of 29%. At Delaware, he has been even hotter than that since the meet began recently. He has won with eight of his first 14 starters.
