(Edited press release)

The Belmont Child Care Association has received a donation of $250,000 from Roy and Gretchen Jackson, owners of the late Barbaro, who won the 2006 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).

The gift was given to start an endowment, “the Lael Stable Fund.”

Earnings from the fund will be used to provide early childhood education to the children of the backstretch workers at Belmont and Aqueduct racetracks at the Anna House, an on-site center at Belmont Park. The Jacksons hope others will donate to the fund in order to maintain the necessary daily care the children receive.
