Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron finished second on his first two mounts Saturday, remaining one victory shy of 7,000. He is scheduled to ride in four more races on the card.

McCarron, 46, is attempting to become the seventh jockey to reach 7,000 victories. Laffit Pincay Jr. holds the record of 9,123. Others who have reached the milestone are Bill Shoemaker, Pat Day, Russell Baze, Angel Cordero Jr., and David Gall.

On Friday he finished fourth in his only race on the Hollywood Park card. McCarron rode Ella's Pal, the 3-1 second-favorite in the 1 1/16 mile race for 3-year-old fillies. The race was won by Beefeater Baby, the 3-2 favorite ridden by Alex Solis.
