Hall of Fame jockey Julie Krone will come out of retirement May 20 to ride in The Blood-Horse Sportsman's Challenge during the 35th High Hope Steeplechase at the Kentucky Horse Park near Lexington.
Krone, the all-time leading female rider with 3,545 wins, retired in 1999 at Lone Star Park. She won her first race in 1981 at Tampa Bay Downs.
The High Hope Steeplechase Association raises money for Central Kentucky Riding for the Handicapped, and the Kentucky Horse Park Foundation. All of its profit is pledged to charity.
Last year, retired jockey Steve Cauthen rode in the Sportsman's Challenge.
