"Barbaro: A Nation's Horse," which was pre-empted April 29 by an overtime hockey game on NBC, will be presented Friday, May 4, at 9 p.m. ET and again at midnight on cable network CNBC. In addition, NBC is scrambling to see if it can find a timeslot to air the documentary this week.

The one-hour program is a tribute to Barbaro, who thrilled racing fans, and the general public, with his scintillating Kentucky Derby (gr. I) victory, before injuring himself in the Preakness (gr. I) and fighting for life through the summer and fall. He was euthanized Jan. 29 because of the complications of laminitis.

NBC had slated the documentary for April 29 at 5 p.m. ET, but its coverage of the New York Rangers-Buffalo Sabres Stanley Cup playoff hockey game, won by the Rangers in double overtime, not only ran past the proposed start of the Barbaro show, but did not end until well past 6 p.m. ET. game.

DVDs of "Barbaro: A Nation's Horse" may be purchased at ExclusivelyEquine.com, with 50 percent of the proceeds benefiting the Barbaro Fund and the Laminitis Fund at the New Bolton Center. The Barbaro Fund was created when an anonymous donor made an extremely generous donation to the New Bolton Center; the Barbaro Fund supports ongoing patient care and expansion of the George D. Widener Large Animal Hospital, Penn Veterinary Medicine's world-renowned clinical, research and teaching hospital. The Laminitis Fund is specifically geared towards researching this incurable disease that took the life of both Barbaro and the great Secretariat.
