Wood Memorial (gr. I) winner Nobiz Like Shobiz worked five furlongs in :59.98 over the main track at Belmont Park Sunday morning as he continued preparations for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I).
Jockey Cornelio Velasquez was aboard for the work, which was the second-fastest of 28 recorded at the distance, over a track labeled “fast.”
“He worked very nicely,” said Barclay Tagg, who trains the Albert the Great colt for Elizabeth Volando.
Nobiz Like Shobiz worked with blinkers, which were added to his equipment prior to his victory in the Wood Memorial in final Derby prep.
“I think they help him concentrate,” Tagg said. “At least, he won with them.”
Nobiz Like Shobiz, who won the Remsen Stakes (gr. II) as a 2-year-old and the Holy Bull (gr. III) this year, is scheduled to be shipped to Churchill Downs on Wednesday.
