The National Thoroughbred Racing Association announced Wednesday that Dr. Scot Waterman will fill the new position of director of procedures and methods for the NTRA Racing Integrity and Drug Testing Task Force. Waterman will be based in Lexington.Waterman will oversee the task force's methods development efforts. He will also coordinate initiatives of state racing commissions and the various testing and research laboratories participating in the task force's drug-testing program.Waterman is a graduate of the University of Arizona Race Track Industry Program. A registered veterinarian, he owned and operated North Hills Animal Hospital in Georgia from 1993 to 1998. He has authored several industry research studies including "The Funding of Equine Medical Research Through Pari-Mutuel Handle," "Racing Commission Relationships with Tribal Gaming Facilities," and "Racetrack Personnel: A Comparative Study."
