Fair Grounds Gets 81-Day Meet for 2007-08

The Louisiana State Racing Commission approved Fair Grounds Race Course’s application for an 81-day meet in 2007-08 on Friday.

Fair Grounds’ 136th season of racing will once again begin on Thanksgiving Day – Nov. 22, 2007. The 18-week meet will run through March 23, 2008.

Racing will be conducted each Thursday through Sunday, with Mondays added to the schedule from Dec. 24 through Feb. 18.

Stakes races and major events will be announced this summer.

Fair Grounds’ first season back at its home following Hurricane Katrina concluded last month. The facility is now preparing to host the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival from April 27-May 6.
