Audley Farm's Night Fax, dam of 2006 Virginia champion Miss Goodnight, died April 7 from complications from internal bleeding three days after foaling a More Than Ready  colt. The colt is on a nurse mare at the Berryville, Va., farm and is doing fine.

A Virginia-bred campaigned by Audley Farm Stable, Night Fax enjoyed her best season as a 4-year-old in 1995, when she won the Delaware Handicap (gr. II) and Nobiliary Stakes and was twice stakes-placed. She also was stakes-placed at 3 and 5 and retired with seven wins from 21 races and earnings of $242,486.

Sixteen-year-old Night Fax (Known Fact--Night Letter, by Marduk II) produced seven named foals, five of which were winners, including stakes-placed Proven (by Benny the Dip). Miss Goodnight (by Johannesburg) was voted champion 2-year-old filly after winning last year's Blue Hen Stakes. Night Fax also is the dam of an unnamed Chapel Royal  yearling filly.
