Bold World, a Fortunate Prospect filly, sold for $475,000 Tuesday to top the second session of the Ocala Breeders's Sales Company's spring sale of 2-year-olds in training. She was purchased by Amy Tarrant of Vermont.

Consigned by her breeder, Farnsworth Farms, Bold World turned in the auction's fastest three-furlong work, covering the distance in :33 3/5. The filly was produced from unraced Worldly Bold, an eight-year-old daughter of World Appeal. Worldly Bold is a full sister to 1992 Bold Ruler Stakes (gr. III) winner Jolies Appeal.

For the session, OBS reported that 163 horses brought a total of $4,159,300, compared with 178 horses that grossed $4,705,600 in 2000's second session. The average price was $25,517, compared with $26,436 in the corresponding session a year ago, while the median price was $17,000, compared with last year's $20,000. The buyback percentage was 34.8% compared with 22.9% a year ago.

Tarrant was the day's leading buyer, taking home two horses for $530,000. James Lewis, with Emanuel Tortora as agent, was next with two for $150,000, followed by Ivar W. Malstrom, Jr. with two for $135,000.

Hair Trigger Dick, a colt by Montbrook consigned by Ocala Stud Farms, brought $95,000. Rick Pitino's Ol Memorial Stable purchased the colt for $95,000. Hair Trigger Dick was produced from Who's the It Girl (by Who's for Dinner), a half-sister to stakes winner Pete the Chief.

Brian Kornier, agent for Carl Odegaard, paid $95,000 for a colt by Lost Soldier out of stakes-placed Cordia (by Sovereign Dancer). Halcyon Hammock Farm, agent consigned the bay colt, who worked a quarter in :22 at the April 19 under tack show.

The spring sale continues in Central Florida through Thursday.
