Ashland Stakes winner Fleet Renee will be among the favorites for the Kentucky Oaks.
Ashland Stakes (gr. I) winner Fleet Renee, among the favorites for the May 3 Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), worked five furlongs in 1:01 under exercise rider Lisa Tenney on Wednesday. Joan Wakefield supervised the work for trainer Michael Dickinson.
"We hoped we could make her go slow; Michael (Dickinson) wanted to go in 1:03," said David Fiske, farm and racing manager for owner Verne Winchell's Oakwind Farm. "But Lisa said if she had to do that, she would have to break her jaw. She seems to like the track."
Fleet Renee will likely share Oaks favoritism with Santa Anita Oaks (gr. I) runner-up Flute.
A full field of 14 is possible for the Oaks, according to Churchill Downs officials. Their list of 16 candidates consists of: Collect Call, Dancethruthedawn, Fleet Renee, Flute, Harmony Lodge, Latour, Morning Sun, Mysia Jo, Mystic Lady, Nasty Storm, Platinum Tiara, Quick Tip, Scoop, Serena's Tune, Steiners Baby Girl, and Tap Dance.
