High Chaparral, Cactus Ridge Sire First Winners

International champion High Chaparral and graded stakes winner Cactus Ridgesired their first winners April 15.

Making his first start, Cactus Ridge's son Senor set a track record of :22.48 for two furlongs at Woodbine. Bred in Kentucky by R.D. Hubbard, the colt races for Frank, Frank L., and Christopher Huarte. He is the second foal from the stakes-winning Phone Trick mare After the Beep.

Cactus Ridge (Hennessy--Double Park, by Lycius) stands for $6,500 at John T.L. Jones III and Robert Trussell's Walmac Farm near Lexington.

High Chaparral's first winner, By Chaparral, won at 4 1/2 furlongs at Lyon Parilly in France for H. Comelli Pauget in her debut. Bred in France by Mise Soledad De Moratalla and Aliette Forien, she is out of the Ashkalani mare Spring Morning.

High Chaparral (Sadler's Wells--Kasora, by Darshaan) won consecutive runnings of the Breeders' Cup Turf (gr. IT), once in a deadheat, and was a classic winner in England and Ireland. He stands for 20,000 euros (about $27,000) at Coolmore Stud in Ireland.
