Asi Siempre and Soul Search, who ran one-two in the Spinster (gr. I) last October at Keeneland, will make their 2007 debuts in Wednesday’s $100,000-added Doubledogdare (gr. III).
The 1 1/16-mile race is for older fillies and mares and drew a field of seven.
After winning the Spinster, Asi Siempre ran fourth in the Emirates Airline Breeders’ Cup Distaff (gr. I). Garrett Gomez will ride Asi Siempre, the Doubledogdare’s 121-pound high weight, for trainer Patrick Biancone. In her career, the 5-year-old daughter of the Irish stallion
El Prado has won six races in 16 starts and earned $761,276.
Biancone also will send out Pyramid Love, who will be ridden by Julien Leparoux. The 4-year-old
Fusaichi Pegasus filly races for W.S. Farish, who owns Soul Search in partnership with Mrs. W.S. Kilroy.
Trainer Todd Pletcher and jockey John Velazquez are seeking their third consecutive victory in the Doubledogdare with Mo Cuishle, a daughter of Saint Ballado who won the Monmouth Breeders’ Cup Oaks (gr. III) last August. Pletcher and Velazquez teamed up to win the Doubledogdare in 2005 with Colony Band and in 2006 with Pool Land.
