Grade I winner Ghazi, the leading sire in Minnesota this year by progeny earnings, has been bought by Eugene and Rita Boehlke for stallion duty at their Boehlke Farm near Waverly, Minn.
An 18-year-old son of Polish Navy out of the Damascus mare Port Damascus, Ghazi has sired 27 runners that have won or placed in stakes. His 14 added-money winners include Irish champion Port Bayou, 2006 Irish group winner King Jock, and U.S. graded winner Beckon the King. His runners have earned $13 million.
A great-grandson of Northern Dancer, Ghazi stands alongside Shotiche, one of the last sons of Northern Dancer at stud. Ghazi's fee is $2,000.
