(Edited press release)
Arlington Park president Roy Arnold announced April 9 that Ken Kiehn has been named as vice president of sales, marketing and guest services for the Illinois track.
"We are pleased to add Ken to the Arlington team," said Arnold in making the announcement. "He is a proven professional with diverse experience in strategic planning, business development, marketing, sales, and operations. In addition, Ken has a wealth of knowledge about both Arlington Park and Illinois racing."
In his new role, Kiehn will be an integral member of Arlington Park’s senior management team. His responsibilities will include the oversight of Arlington’s sales, marketing, sponsorship, promotions, guest services, television, and communications departments.
"It’s extremely exciting to be returning to Arlington Park and I’m really looking forward to leading the very accomplished team that’s already in place there,” said Kiehn. "We’ll be looking to build upon past successes through the addition of new, innovative ideas that will provide even better racing and customer service for our fans.”
Kiehn, a former Arlington Park employee, assumes his new role following six years as general manager of Maywood Park Racetrack in Melrose Park, Ill.
At Maywood, Kiehn supervised a multi-million dollar renovation of the track, restructured all of the track’s departments, created innovative sales, marketing and advertising campaigns, and increased revenues through the creation of non-racing events and promotions. During his tenure, Maywood established the highest ever single night handle and set an all-time record for inter-track day and night combined handle.
He previously served several positions at Arlington Park between 1989 and 1999, which included manager of operations, manager of guest relations/expositions, and general manager of Arlington’s Trackside off-track betting facility in Arlington Heights, Ill.
Kiehn, 35, is a graduate of DePaul University and resides in Chicago.
