Sahm, the sole male offspring from the great European mare Salsabil, was euthanized March 20 because of an ongoing intestinal disease. The 13-year-old son of Mr. Prospector stood at Sheikh Hamdan's Shadwell Farm near Lexington.

Sahm raced as a homebred for Shadwell Stable, winning twice in England and capturing the Knickerbocker Handicap (gr. IIT) at Aqueduct. He retired with five wins from 11 races and earnings of $198,879.

As a stallion, Sahm sired a half-dozen stakes winners, including Irish group II winner Mustameet and 2007 U.S. stakes winner Irish Dreamer. His runners have earned $3.8 million.

Deceased Salsabil, by Sadler's Wells, proved extra special by winning the 1990 Budweiser Irish Derby (Ire-I) over males and championships in three countries.
