Apprentice Joe Talamo, runaway leader in the jockey standings at Fair Grounds, will switch his tack to New York for the start of Aqueduct's main track meet in early April, according to his agent, Ronnie Ebanks.

Through March 20, Talamo has 114 winners at the Fair Grounds meeting, 26 more than runner-up Robby Albarado. The meeting in New Orleans began on Thanksgiving Day, 2006, and comes to a close Sunday, March 25.

The following weekend, March 29-April 1, Talamo will head to California to ride at Santa Anita for trainer Bobby Frankel, according to Ebanks, as many of the top riders will be in Dubai for the World Cup program.

Aqueduct's main track opens Wednesday, April 4. Ebanks said he plans to be there with Talamo though the spring and into Belmont Park's summer meet.

For the year, Talamo ranks second nationally by wins with 80 from 412 mounts (19%). His mounts have earned more than $2.3 million, good for eighth place in the national rankings.
