Six of First Seven Mares in Foal to Smarty Jones The champion son of Elusive Quality stands at Robert Clay's Three Chimneys Farm near Midway, Ky. Smarty Jones was forced to miss the start of the season last month due to a minor temporary blockage in his reproductive tract. He returned to normal breeding activity in a few days after treatment for a plugged ampulla, which blocked sperm from exiting his reproductive tract. "He missed just a few mares and we have worked those mares back in," farm president Dan Rosenberg said. "He feels fine and there are no lingering effects." Smarty Jones stands for $100,000. He won eight of nine lifetime starts including the 2004 Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Preakness (gr. I), and is standing his third season at stud.
