Abscess Removed from Real Quiet's Foot

Champion Real Quiet, who was taken to the University of Pennsylvania's New Bolton Center Feb. 19 after showing signs of discomfort after mounting his mares, is undergoing treatment on his back feet after a nuclear scintigraphy revealed heat in the area.

"An abscess popped from his left hind foot, and they're working on the right," said syndicate manager Mike Jester. "He's doing fine and seems happy and content."

Real Quiet, who won the Kentucky Derby (gr. I) and Preakness Stakes (gr. I) the year of his 1998 championship, stands at Dr. William Solomon's Pin Oak Lane Farm near New Freedom, Pa. The son of Quiet American   is booked to 80 mares.
