Timber Trick turned in the fastest eighth of a mile work Sunday at Calder Race Course during the first under tack show for the Fasig-Tipton Florida select sale of 2-year-olds in training. The Forestry filly covered the distance in :10.
Consigned by Don R. Graham, Timber Trick is the second foal out of the 10-year-old grade II winner March Magic (by Evansville Slew). Graham purchased Timber Trick for $120,000 at the 2006 Keeneland September yearling auction.
Another Forestry filly was the quickest at a quarter mile, stopping the clock in :21 1/5. Consigned by Hoby and Layna Kight, agents, the filly is out of the 14-year-old unraced Kerosene mare Frio Town and is a half-sister to grade II winner Beau's Town (by Beau Genius). John Kimmel, as agent, purchased the filly for $180,000 at last year's Keeneland September yearling sale.
The 2-year-olds worked into a 15-20 mile per hour head wind for much of the day, according to Boyd Browning, Fasig-Tipton's executive vice president and chief operating officer.
There were no works on the grass because the Calder turf course is undergoing a renovation.
The Fasig-Tipton Calder sale's second and final under tack show will be held March 4, beginning at 10 a.m. (EST). The sale is scheduled for March 6, starting at 11 a.m. (EST).
