Classic Endeavor to Stand in Australia; Will Not Shuttle

Former U.S. multiple graded stakes winner Classic Endeavor has been purchased by an Australian stud farm and is headed down under to begin his breeding career.

The smart Classic Endeavor (Silver Buck-Bold Juana, by John Alden) has joined the 2007 roster at George Fraser’s emerging young stud farm at Scone named Ilala Stud in the NSW Hunter Valley.

“He has been purchased outright and is not standing as a shuttle sire, but will be a full-time resident down here," said Fraser who also stands one of the most intriguing stallions currently in Australia. Last year, Fraser quietly unwrapped the hulking giant named Sippin' Bourbon. No-one knew anything about him. He was unraced, well over 16 hands and only three years old. When breeders saw his pedigree, however, they soon realized who he was. He's by Hennessyfrom I'll Get Along making him a half-brother to the superstar Smarty Jones. Sippin' Bourbon served a big book on debut at Aus$5,500.

Fraser is expecting Classic Endeavor, who recorded 16 wins in the U.S. (15 on New York’s Belmont Park, Aqueduct and Saratoga tracks, including the grade III Queens Country Handicap and  grade III Stuyvesant Handicap) plus 10 runner-ups and earned Aus$1.3 million (U.S.$1,024,000) to be just as popular. His dual grade I-winning sire Silver Buck has also produced both world champion Silver Charm and grade I winner and successful sire Forever Silver.

Fraser has a growing list of eight stallions on his newly formed farm, which has been in operation for just three seasons. He also stands another unraced giant (nearly 17hh) named Vice Admiral who entered stud in 2004. He's by Deputy Minister from Sister Dot which makes him a younger full-brother to world superstar sire Dehere.

"But I'm most excited about Classic Endeavor. He's exactly the type of horse I was looking for and he should be popular with Australian breeders," said Fraser.

Classic Endeavor will stand his initial season at Ilala Stud at Aus$16,500 (U.S.$13,000).
