Arizona Stallion Vaudeville Dead

Vaudeville, one of the top turf runners in 1994, was euthanized Feb. 16 at Bob and Mary Ellen McKee's Hidden Springs Ranch near Yarnell, Ariz. The 16-year-old son of  Theatrical covered only one mare in what was his first season at the farm for owner Mark Dyer.

As a 3-year-old in 1994, Vaudeville won the Secretariat Stakes (gr. IT) and American Derby (gr. IIT) and ran second in the Turf Classic Invitational Stakes (gr. IT) and Cinema Handicap (gr. IIIT). In 1995, he finished second in the San Francisco Mile Handicap (gr. IIT).

Vaudeville, who was bred in Kentucky by Carl Icahn's Foxfield and produced from the Riverman mare S'Nice, won four of 15 races and earned $604,350 for owner Ron Crockett while trained by Fordell Fierce.

As a stallion, Vaudeville sired stakes winner Night Dash and three stakes-placed runners. His progeny earnings are $1.3 million.
