Satish and Anne Sanan's Padua Stables has acquired an interest in major Triple Crown contender Any Given Saturday from Bill Casner and Kenny Troutt's WinStar Farm. Any Given Saturday won the Feb. 17 Sam F. Davis Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs in his 3-year-old debut.

Any Given Saturday, whose 100 Beyer Speed Figure was one of the highest for a 2-year-old last year, was one of the highest-weighted runners on the Experimental Free Handicap for males. He was assigned 119 pounds.

The Sanans, who own Padua near Summerfield, Fla., have raced such stakes winners as champion Vindication and grade I winner Proud Accoladein the farm name.

"Because WinStar Farm is run as a business, we continually strive to remain fiscally responsible, which often relegates us to the role of seller," said WinStar vice president Elliot Walden. "In the same way that WinStar sold champions Funny Cide and One Cool Cat, and most recently sold Spring At Last, who ran second in the Strub (Stakes, gr. II) last time out, we are happy to become partners with the Sanan family with such an outstanding Kentucky Derby (gr. I) prospect."

Any Given Saturday is by WinStar stallion Distorted Humor  and is out of the A.P. Indymare Weekend in Indy. WinStar is located near Versailles, Ky.

Bred in Kentucky by Racehorse Management, a division of WinStar, Any Given Saturday ran second in last year's Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes (gr. II) at Churchill Downs. He sports a record of three wins from four races and earnings of $164,213. He is currently being pointed toward the Tampa Bay Derby (gr. III) March 17.
