The winning margins of the 2006 Emirates Airline Breeders' Cup Distaff (gr. I) and NetJets Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) at Churchill Downs have been changed after further review by Equibase.

In the Distaff, Round Pond's winning margin was increased to 5 1/2 lengths from 4 1/4 lengths, and Miesque's Approval's winning margin in the Mile was increased to four lengths from 2 3/4 lengths.

Chuck Scaravilli, Equibase vice president, track and field, said the company received an inquiry from a patron of the service in early January asking for a review of the margins. "Like we usually do, we went through and researched the races and decided a couple of the margins were in fact incorrect," Scaravilli said. "If we receive an inquiry we always research it and if we feel it is wrong, then we correct it."

In reviewing the races, Scaravilli said Equibase used the winning photos of the race as well as the race replay to determine the correct margins. "We wanted to make sure everything was correct so we did some in-depth research on the margins and it took some time to do a thorough job."
