Little Surprise as 'Field' Tops Derby Future Wager The field option included all 3-year-olds other than the 23 individual horses listed. The “all others” choice has closed as the favorite in every opening Derby Future pool since the bet was introduced in 1999. Elizabeth Valando’s Nobiz Like Shobiz, who counts the Remsen (gr. II) and Holy Bull (gr. III) among his three victories in four career starts, was the 8-1 second choice and the favored individual horse. James Tafel’s 2006 2-year-old champion Street Sense, winner of the Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I) at Churchill Downs, ended up as the pool’s third choice at 10-1. The Kentucky Derby Future Wager allows racing fans to wager on contenders for the 133rd Kentucky Derby presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) at odds that could be significantly better than those they would receive on the day of the race. The wager is a $2 minimum bet and a win wager only. There are no refunds in the Kentucky Derby Future Wager and winning payouts are based on the odds that are in place at the conclusion of each of the three KDFW pools. United States and selected Canadian simulcasting outlets wagered $520,688 during the four-day pool – a total that included $243,664 that passed through mutuel windows on Sunday. The final total was the fifth highest in the nine-year history of the Derby Future bet. The total was strong considering that TVG did not accept wagers in Pool 1. Unbeaten Hard Spun, the winner of the Lecomte (gr. III) at the Fair Grounds, closed at 10-1, with slightly less money wagered on the Danzig colt than third choice Street Sense. Sham (gr. III) winner Ravel stood at 11-1 at the conclusion of wagering. Circular Quay, who finished a troubled fifth in Saturday’s Risen Star (gr. III) at the Fair Grounds, closed at 12-1. Others that found favor with Derby Future bettors included Any Given Sunday (14-1) and Great Hunter (24-1). Risen Star winner Notional and Exhale each closed at 27-1. Pool 2 of the KDFW is scheduled for March 8-11, while the third and final pool is set for April 12-15. KENTUCKY DERBY FUTURE WAGER POOL 1 – FINAL Total Poo1 1 Wagering: $520,688
