Dreaming of Anna 9-2 at Midpoint of Oaks Pool

Frank Calabrese’s unbeaten homebred Dreaming of Anna, winner of the $2 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) and the Eclipse Award winner as the champion 2-year-old filly of 2006, continued to draw strong support, but the wagering interest that represented “all other 3-year-old fillies” remained a solid favorite as Pool 1 of Churchill Downs’ Kentucky Oaks Future Wager reached the midway point of its four-day run on Friday.

The mutuel field, which includes all 3-year-old fillies other than the 23 individual betting interests in the pool, remained the 5-2 favorite following the second day of the four-day pool.  Dreaming of Anna, who is set to make her season debut on Saturday in the $150,000 Old Hat Stakes (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park, was second choice at 9-2. 

Wagering on Thursday’s opening session of KOFW Pool 1 totaled $9,624.  Other fillies that attracted solid support during the pool’s opening day included Boca Grande (10-1), Cotton Blossom (11-1), Octave (13-1). Jump On In and Rags to Riches each stood at 20-1.
 
The 133rd running of the  $500,000-added Kentucky Oaks (gr. I), a 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-old fillies, is scheduled for Friday, May 4 at Churchill Downs, while the Derby will be run the following day.

Wagering on KOFW Pool 1 is scheduled to resume on Saturday at noon (all times EST).  Betting on the four-day pool will conclude on Sunday at 6:30 p.m.  Pool 2 of the Kentucky Oaks Future Wager is scheduled for March 8-11, while the year’s third and final pool is set for April 12-15.
