Lucky Tec, 20-1 and ninth choice in the Queen's Plate winter book, was injured and knocked off the trail to the 142nd Queen's Plate after suffering an injury in training on Wednesday morning.

"We've had a very bad morning," trainer John Ross reported, just hours after his Queen's Plate hopeful worked five furlongs in 1:01 1/5, handily over Woodbine's main track.

"We thought it was a very good work," said Ross. "Following the work, we found that Lucky Tec had suffered a fracture in his left leg. It's a straight, hairline condylar fracture that will require a small screw. He should be fine in four months. We're very disappointed."

Owned by Jam Jar Racing Stable, Lucky Tec finished second in his only start of 2001 and was considered a major threat for Canada's premier race on June 24.
