Blood-Horse Publications has announced that Eric Mitchell has accepted the newly-created position of executive editor of Digital Media for The Blood-Horse.
Mitchell, formerly director of research for the company, will be responsible for Bloodhorse.com and its affiliated sites, StallionRegister.com and Auctions.Bloodhorse.com. He will also continue contributing to The Blood-Horse MarketWatch, which will now be managed by its new editor, Jason Russo. Blood-Horse Publications will immediately begin accepting applications for the now vacant research director position. In the interim, Cindy Brice, production coordinator for the department, has agreed to manage the day-to-day activities of the department.
“Having someone with the experience and knowledge of Eric Mitchell taking over our online business signals Blood-Horse Publications' commitment to serving our increasingly tech-savvy and international audience with the content and delivery systems expected of an industry leader,” noted Ray Paulick, editorial director for Blood-Horse Publications.
Mitchell joined Blood-Horse Publications in October 1999 as a senior staff writer for The Blood-Horse. Prior to joining Blood-Horse Publications, Mitchell was a reporter and columnist for Street & Smith’s SportsBusiness Journal in Charlotte, N.C. He also spent more than eight years as a senior reporter for the Ocala Star-Banner, covering Florida’s horse industry among other subjects.
