Eduardo Nunez Wins 2,000th Race

Jockey Eduardo O. Nunez won his 2,000th race on Feb. 1 when he guided Cash McCool to victory by a neck in the seventh race at Gulfstream Park.
A native of Panama, the 40-year Nunez began his U.S. career in 1986 after winning 46 races as an apprentice in his native country. His most lucrative victory came in 1996 on Dance for Thee in the My Girl division of the $360,000 Florida Stallion Stakes.
Through Jan. 30, Nunez had seven wins in 74 starts in 2007 with earnings of $167,585. He has total earnings of nearly $35.5 million from 18,859 lifetime mounts.
