The Horse Racing Radio Network, which is based in Lexington, announced Jan 31. that it will provide its listeners with live coverage of more than 180 stakes races throughout 2007. Beginning Feb. 3rd with Gulfstream Park’s Donn Handicap (gr. I), HRRN will embark on a schedule that will feature more than 60 broadcasts from Arlington, Belmont, Calder, Churchill Downs, Fair Grounds, Gulfstream, Keeneland, Saratoga, and Turfway.
The 2007 HRRN schedule will showcase 38 grade I races including the Donn Handicap, Florida Derby, Toyota Blue Grass Stakes, Kentucky Oaks, Stephen Foster Handicap, Arlington Million, Beverly D. Handicap, Whitney Handicap, and Travers Stakes.
“Every other major sport is on television, as well as radio," said Pete Kules, who co-founded and co-hosts HRRN with Mike Penna. "The amount of positive feedback from our first season was overwhelming, and our expanded 2007 schedule will allow racing fans to experience the sport in a unique way, live on the radio.”
Each broadcast features pre- and post-race interviews and analysis, as well as the live call of each race. The broadcasts can be heard throughout Kentucky and southern Indiana on HRRN’s new flagship station WLXO 96.1 FM in Lexington, as well as affiliates WAVG 1450, Jeffersonville, Ind. and Louisville; WAIN FM 93.5, Columbia, Ky.; WIVY FM 96.3, Morehead, Ky.; WMST AM 1150, Mt. Sterling, Ky.; WSIP FM 98.9, Paintsville, Ky.; and WDOC AM 1310, Prestonsburg, Ky.
