Revved Up Slightly Lame, Out of 'Millions Turf

Revved Up will miss Saturday's $500,000 San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino Sunshine Millions Turf at Santa Anita after a training mishap Tuesday in Florida.

“He came back lame in his left fore but he’s almost 100 percent today,” trainer Christophe Clement said from Florida of the 9-year-old gelding. “We expect to put the shoe back on tomorrow and go from there.”

Revved Up, a Florida-bred son of Sultry Song, is a winner of 17 of his 34 starts with earnings of nearly $1.3 million.

The defection of early 5-1 morning second choice Revved Up shouldn't dramatically impact the strategy of Corey Nakatani, who rides 4-5 morning line favorite Lava Man in the 1 1/8-mile race.

“There’s good speed in the race, so basically we’ll let him do his thing and stay out of his way,” Nakatani said. “We plan to start a new (winning) streak.”

Lava Man won seven consecutive races last year before finishing seventh in the Breeders’ Cup Classic - Presented by Dodge (gr. I) on Nov. 4.
