Drug Positives Force Two Scratches from Keeneland Sale

Keeneland officials scratched two horses from the 2-year-olds in training sale Tuesday because of positive drug tests that showed up after the under tack shows. The horses were not publicly identified.

The positives, for an unnamed antihistamine, were not performance enhancing according to sales company officials, and were not done intentionally by consignors. Using the rules of racing for its drug policy during the sale, the horses were ordered scratched.

In all, 35 horses were tested from the first under tack show April 9 and 33 horses were tested following the April 16 show. One horse from each of the shows tested positive.
