Trainer Steven Brown Earns 1,000th Win

Trainer Steven R. Brown won his 1,000th race on Jan. 18 when he sent out Getaway Car to a 9 1/2-length victory in the first race at Charles Town Races & Slots, according to Equibase.

Brown has won with two of his three starters in 2007 at the current Charles Town meeting.

Owned by Ron and Walter Simak, Getaway Car was sent off as the 9-10 favorite in the $5,000 claiming event at 1 1/8 miles on the main track. With Arnaldo Bocachica riding, the 5-year-old horse by Skip Away pressed the pace in second, took the lead on the final turn and drew off under urging.
